Our Story

Our restaurant is not just a place to eat. For us, Dukkah is a journey; from those days when we were helping our grandmas cooking up a storm, and us fighting over the batter bowl to rocking up at family gatherings with a new dish for everyone to try, to becoming professional chefs. In another word food has always been our true passion.

We travelled the world for food and indulged in almost every type of cuisine, discovering flavours, spices and different cooking techniques. From things in our circle like Lebanese restaurants and Turkish restaurants to cuisines that seem completely different, we’ve found ways to bring harmony of flavours, texture and aromas that teases the palate.

The signature name Dukkah represents all the values that we stand for: creativity, adventure, hospitality, and lots of love. Our South Kingsville based restaurant and bar offers comforting & hearty dishes in both authentic and fusion varieties that can be shared with family and friends. This never-ending desire to provide food lovers with a friendly and cosy atmosphere, along with our favourite recipes is the sole reason why we started Dukkah.

What is Dukkah?

The name dukkah (pronounced doo-kah) means “to pound” in Arabic and it comes from one of the most ancient dishes in the Egyptian cuisine. Although there is no set recipe for what dukkah consists of, traditionally the main ingredient was ground apricot seeds. These days it is made from a combination of roasted spices, nuts and a variety of seeds.

Customarily, this warm, aromatic mixture was used as a dip with oil and bread. Today, dukkah is used as a marinade, sprinkled on pasta, dips, roasted vegetables, and can even make one heck of a dessert.

At Dukkah, we serve the authentic recipe that has inspired all those great dishes around the world.
